Château des Charmes is the proud recipient of hundreds of medals in regional, national and international competitions. Today, the
wines of Canada are gaining worldwide recognition ("in this rapidly evolving wine region, there's
no looking back" - Thomas Matthews, The Wine Spectator) and Paul Bosc's
role has not been overlooked. In June of 1996, Paul was honoured with a doctorate from Brock University for
"...his impressive contributions to Canada's modern grape and wine industry." In October
of 1999, Paul was honoured with The Order of Ontario, the province's highest civilian award. In February of 2003, Paul
was honoured with the Queen's Golden Jubilee Award
"…for his pioneering work and contributions to the establishment of a world-class Ontario wine
industry, as a winemaker and industry builder." In March of 2004, Paul was recognized by his peers
with the Tony Aspler Award of Excellence “…for furthering aims and aspirations
of the province’s wine industry,” and in August 2005, Paul was appointed to The Order of
Canada in the fields of industry, commerce and business, the country’
s highest honour recognizing “...a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.”
The recognition Château des Charmes
enjoys today is possible because of the high quality of the
wines and the winery's rich historical foundation. With this
in mind, the Bosc family is charting its present and future
course. With an eye to leading edge viticulture and innovative
partnerships, the Boscs and their employees are working hard
to ensure Château des Charmes' position as the best
and the most progressive wine producer in Canada.
Along with a long list of scientific innovations
pioneered by Château des Charmes, unique collaborative
marketing strategies have also been developed.
An excellent example is the creative "vineyard
partnership" between Château des Charmes and Fairmont's
Royal York Hotel, the famous Toronto landmark. A staunch supporter
of Canada's wine industry, Fairmont's Serge Simard approached
Château des Charmes about dedicating a portion of the
St. David's Bench Vineyard for exclusive Royal York use. Chardonnay,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc grown in these
dedicated sections are used solely for wines served in the
hotel. The grapes are harvested and vinted separately from
the rest of the winery's production with the assistance of
The Royal York's enthusiastic staff. Beautiful custom labels
show off the proud result of the Vineyard Partnership's efforts.
Château des Charmes distributes a quarterly e-mail newsletter called the
Connoisseur Club, to keep customers and connoisseurs abreast of any new
developments and wine releases.
